I finally downloaded “El Radio,” Chris Garneau’s 2nd album. I’m a little ashamed of myself for having waited an entire week.
After his 2006 debut album, “Music For tourists,” I was sure that the Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter couldn’t do any better, but he somehow managed to reach new heights.
“El Radio” builds on Garneau’s eerily beautiful (and incredibly unique) voice and his talents on the piano adding a number of string instruments and even a couple of brass tones.
On a comparison between the two albums, Garneau said “I feel I have taken the focus off of myself on this album. This has allowed me to explore other aspects of the world around me that I never knew… So many people have played on this record. The entire process we went about making this record was so different than in the past. There is a really big group effort. It feels like it’s about a lot of people, not just me.”
He also says we should expect a short player to follow this album like “C-Sides,” which followed “Music For Tourists.”
I recommend this album 100%.
